Arca Systems, the Swedish-based global materials handling company, has developed an efficient and cost-effective returnable packaging system for liquid handling.

Developed in conjunction with the in conjunction with the world's largest food manufacturer, Arca IBC is specifically designed for the bulk storage and transportation of fruit and vegetable concentrates, such as tomato, from producer to processor.

The container is designed to carry a flexible reusable liner bag, which is placed inside the IBC and filled with the liquid. The result is a packaging system, which reduces the use and cost of packaging material, compared to traditional alternatives, simplifies handling as well as providing safe and hygienic storage.

The container is manufactured using an advanced injection moulded sandwich technique, which gives strength and durability. The side-walls and base are completely smooth, making it easy to keep clean. It has a maximum carrying capacity of 1100 litres and is designed with a four way entry pallet style base for fork-lift truck handling. When empty, the container folds to around one third if its normal size. This makes for economical return shipment and storage of the units.

Arca IBC meets the food industry demands for logistics systems, which are economical, safe and, above all, hygienic. Due to its strong, welded construction, it can be used for all types of transportation networks.
