Heineken, the Dutch brewer, has increased its stake in Heye Glas Nederland from 33 per cent to 100 per cent.

Heye Glas Nederland makes the famous green bottles used by Heineken for all the beer it sells on international markets.

Heineken acquired its initial 33 per cent stake in the bottle producer in 1996 in order to secure the supply of high quality export bottles at a lower cost to meet the needs of growing demand for its beer.

The company has acquired the stake from German company Hermann Heye, its long-term partner in the bottle maker. The German firm is currently experiencing financial difficulties and has decided to sell its stake in the firm to alleviate its problems.
