SIG to supply bottling lines for Grolsch

SIG Simonazzi has won a major order from Grolsch to supply six bottling lines for the brewer's new facility in Enschede.

SIG Simonazzi has won a major order from one of the longest-standing Dutch breweries, Grolsch, to supply six bottling lines for the brewer's new facility in Enschede.

Quoted on the Stock Exchange, Royal Grolsch is home of the popular Premium Lager. The brewery currently sells 50 per cent of its beer on the domestic market, while the remaining 50 per cent is exported to fifty different countries.

The two historic Royal Grolsch facilities are both situated in the east of the country, but will soon hand over the baton to the new state-of-the-art Enschede facility in which all current production is to be concentrated.

The six SIG Simonazzi bottling lines, including bottling lines for swing top bottles as well as returnable and one-way glass bottling lines, canning, etc, will be installed in this new ultra efficient facility. The order also includes a system for soda recovery.

A spokesman for Royal Grolsch said that what most influenced the company awarding the contract to SIG Simonazzi was its role as a system integrator in a position to supply the most advanced and reliable technology on the market all the way down the line.

This is the first time that Royal Grolsch has chosen SIG Simonazzi for such a large-scale project. The installation will be made in steps: the first lot of four lines together with the soda recovery system will be delivered in mid-2003, whereas the last two lines will be installed in 2004.

Based in Italy, SIG Simonazzi develops, manufactures, and sells complete lines and machines for processing, filling and final packaging of drinks in plastic and glass bottles and cans. Its machines are typically used for filling products such as beer, soft drinks, mineral water, energy drinks, new-age beverages, fruit juices, milk, milk-based drinks, wine, and spirits.
