Production of multi-layer containers has begun at RPC Verpackungen Kutenholz, for a range of polypropylene condiment bottles incorporating a waved shaping - a configuration that is traditionally challenging to produce.
"We are delighted at the successful introduction of this technology at our site," commented Andreas Köhnen, RPC Kutenholz's sales manager. "In close co-operation with our sister company RPC Corby we now see excellent opportunities to strengthen our position in this market."
One of RPC Kutenholz's first customers for this technology is Develey Senf & Feinkost, Unterhaching for whom the site has been producing a 500 ml multi-layer polypropylene bottle in red and light green since the end of April.
The six-layer construction includes a layer of EVOH, which provides the barrier to oxygen ingress to maximise the shelf life of the products - tomato ketchup and three varieties of salad dressing (herb, cocktail and yoghurt).
The custom-moulded bottle features a curved design to create a wave effect on both sides, giving the bottle added on-shelf appeal and providing easy handling for the consumer.
