Torraspapel has extended its range of labelling solution in an effort to muscle in on the ever-growing market for PET bottled water.

Bottled water consumption in Europe is increasing yearly. At the same time, there has been a sharp increase in the use of bottling materials such as PET, a reference point in the bottled water sector. The company's range of moisture resistant paper is especially made to provide labelling solutions for non-returnable PET and glass bottles (Creaset LWS) and returnable glass bottles (Creaset WS).

A basic element in water bottling is the label, the company says. On it are the water's brand, name, location of the source and important information such as the bottled water's properties and chemical characteristics. Therefore, it is essential that the label be impeccable so that all the information is legible, as well as attractive since the label is an essential factor in selling the product.

As water bottles are constantly exposed to moisture and cold weather during a large part of their useful life from the time the water is bottled until it is consumed. These aspects can damage the label and therefore, reducing its saleability.

To meet this market's needs, Torraspapel has extended its range of paper to moisture resistant labels with the new quality Creaset LWS paper. The company claims that this quality is ideal to label non-returnable PET and glass bottles since it offers optimum quality in cold and moist conditions and subsequent conservation in equally cold and moist environments: refrigerators, cellars, ice chests, and freezers.

The range of Creaset LWS paper is coated paper with a glossy side made with a slight resistance to moisture (LWS, Low Wet Strength) that confers ideal properties with respect to an absence of wrinkles, opacity when moist and rip and friction resistance in unfavourable moisture conditions.

Part of water production, mainly water with gas, is bottled in returnable glass bottles. These bottles are primarily made for the restaurant sector, are recovered after use and are used again after an exhaustive washing process. During this stage, the labels must be taken off the bottles so that the paper and ink does not dissolve and dirty the water of the washing cycle.

In this case, the paper quality recommended is Creaset WS, which is water resistant. The company says that this range of paper can be used in any application where the bottle is reused, such as with beer, carbonated drinks and beverages.

Thus, Creaset LWS and Creaset WS are two ideal solutions for labeling water bottles made to offer the best labeling and printing results, and which are already available on the market.

Based in Spain, Torrapapel has manufacturing facilities throughout the world producing a variety of labelling solutions for a diverse range of industries, including that of food and beverage.
