Monarch Equibonds has been appointed by US-based firm Monarch Beverages Company as the exclusive licensee for central and south east Europe.

Under the terms of a minimum 10-year agreement Monarch Equibonds will work with independent bottlers to bottle and distribute Monarch products in this territory.

Monarch Beverages is one of the fastest growing beverages company in the US. The group produces a full range of carbonated and ready-to-drink products in more than 65 countries, and owns a number brands including American Cola, Planet Cola, Quench and Suncrest.

"We are very pleased to be able to introduce these leading brands to central Europe," said Monarch Equibonds partner Marin le Corre.

"It is now our job to continue this momentum into the Balkans and central Europe, and bring some excitement to an otherwise bland cola segment. Accordingly, we are now selecting suitable independent bottlers/ distributors in our territory."

Market segmentation shows that cola products account for nearly 60 per cent of the total soft drinks market in Europe. Orange flavour soft drinks constitute around 15 per cent of the market segment.

Founded in 1965, Monarch Beverages is based in the US with subsidiaries in Mexico, Brazil, France, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Russia and China. The group works with 150 bottlers to manufacture, market and distribute a range of soft drinks.

Monarch Equibonds has a head office in Geneva and an office in Skopje, Macedonia.
