Danone increases HOD activity
water container company Arcos Iris. The group has not stipulated
how much it has paid for the business but has indicated that it now
has the majority stake, writes Danny Vincent.
Arco Iris is one of the major players in the Mexican home and office water market. It sales in 2003 totaled to 350 million litres and has a strong position in Gaudalajara and Puebla Mexico's second and forth largest cities.
The move follows a number of local agreements that the company set up in 2003 for example, the group owns 50 per cent of UltraPura in Tijuana and 100 per cent of AquaPura in Monterrey, its business activity in the (Home and Office delivery) HOD market is increasing.
The latest move is another example of Danone's plans in expansion in the Mexican home and office container-water market - the world's leading market in volume terms.
The company is now a major player in home and office delivery. It started its HOD activity in 1994. In 2002 HOD represented 35 per cent of the company's water volume business.
