Flowmeters meet demand for high speed, accurate filling

The launch of a two new flowmeters meets the demand from the food and beverage processors using high speed filling lines, according to its manufacturer.

Endress+Hauser said its Dosimass Coriolis and Dosimag electromagnetic flowmeters can meet the increased demand for high precision, high speed flowmeters.

"Even the smallest quantities of certain products are expensive and so precision flow metering is the key to future savings," the company stated.

With the rapid growth in the use of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic bottles and the rising demand for pre-mixed bottled beverages, high speed flowmeters are in greater use by the beverageindustry, the Australia-based company stated in an announcement this month.

Both sensors Dosimag and Dosimass both feature self-monitoring and diagnostic functions to immediately recognise and overcome problems.

This function helps keep plants running at optimumefficiency, the company stated.

Endress+Hauser bills its Dosimass and Dosimag flowmeters as replacements for conventional piston-type bottlers.

The flowmeters are suitable for both clean-in-place (CIP) and sterilisation in place(SIP) cleaning.

This means the instruments can be used in hygienic food processes, such as aseptic filling operations.

"With space at a premium in many line and rotary filling machines, Dosimass and Dosimag are lightweight and compact and, as such, specifically suit filling and bottling applications,"the company stated.

In modern filling and bottling plants, high accuracy is essential to avoid product losses.

Dosimass measures mass flow or volume flow to suit specific requirements.

The instrument has built-intemperature and density compensation.

Maximum repeatability is maintained at all times during the filling process.

Dosimass is suited to the food and beverage, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and petrochemicals industries.

Dosimag can only be used for conductive liquids, such as water based fluids, acids and bases.

It is slightly less accurate, requires more careful installation but is significantly lower in cost toDosimass.

Even in the most demanding process conditions, where short filling intervals or small quantities are experienced, they produce reliable, repeatable results, without any wear and tear.

The measuring systems consist of a sensor and transmitter.
