Manufacturers are lining up innovative processing equipment to
attract bakers at the upcoming international baking trade fair, the
IBA.

Among those exhibiting at the fair next month, will be German manufacturers Sollich who are taking the opportunity to roll out an improved range of confectionery and baking machines.

The group, along with sister company Chocotech, supplies the bakery and confectionery industry with equipment for use in the making of chocolates, wafers, gingerbread and biscuits.

Displayed at the fair for the first time will be the firm's latest baking technology, Sollcofill, together with biscuit sandwiching machinery.

Sollcofill is a processor used to inject fillings into biscuits, wafers and cakes. The technology will be exhibited in conjunction with a new 1500mm width sandwiching machine.

Also demonstrated will be the Minicoater, a smaller version with a 420mm belt width.

A Sollich spokesperson told bakeryandsnacks.com that the Minicoater had proved especially popular with bakers as it was specifically designed to decorate smaller products such as biscuits.

She said: "So far we have delivered quite a few of these systems and our customers are pretty happy and satisfied with the equipment as it offers a multitude of value added features to biscuits and baked products."

The fair will run in Munich from 3 - 9 October. Around 1,000 exhibitors from over 45 countries have signed up.

Also on the line up is a seminar entitled 'Innovations in Baking' and hosted by Virgil Smail, head of the department of grain science and industry at Kansas State University.

Topics for the seminar, which takes place on October 5, will include sourdough technology, probiotics for the baking industry and enzymes and glycemic index.
