Tamper-evident tub targets ice cream market

A new ice cream tub on the market comes with a security tamper-evidence feature that allowsworkers to detect when it has been opened before use.

RPC Containers Hereford said its new four litre ice cream tub meets the growing requirement for tamper-evidencepackaging in the foodservice sector.

The tub is manufactured in deep-freeze grade polypropylene (PP) and can be used for ice creams and other frozenfoods, the company said.

The tamper-evidence feature incorporates an injection moulded break-off tab that provides instant evidence of interference, but is easy to open in busy foodservice environments, the company claimed.

The tub can be ordered in a range of decorative options, including in-mould labelling and avariety of colours. RPC Hereford said it has invested in two-cavity tooling to allow it to produce ahigh-quality tub and lid.

"This is the next step in foodservice packaging for ice cream, offering effective tamper-evidence without slowing down the opening process,"said RPC Hereford's sales manager Ian Craig.
