Tetra Pak invests millions in new research centres

Sweden-based Tetra Pak will invest €32.6m in two new centres in
Lund to develop new processing and packaging equipment for food and
drink manufacturers.

The private company is one of the world's leading suppliers of processing and packaging equipment. "This investment provides us with flexible premises for such units as our R&D department,"​ said Dennis Jönsson, president and chief executive of the group. "This input will more than meet our future requirements on premises so that we can raise productivity in both development and production." ​ The premises will have a floor space of 13 thousand square metres, accommodating 430 workplaces and a machine hall of five thousand square metres. Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of this year and reach completion at the end of 2009. "We work closely with our suppliers and customers on preferred processing and packaging solutions to provide convenient, innovative and environmentally sound products to millions of people worldwide,"​ the company stated. Swedish-owned Tetra Pak, is a global packaging and machine manufacturer, with an 80 per cent share of the carton market.
