A spokesperson for the company told ConfectioneryNews.com that this helps make candy products packaged in the box easier to sell.
The shape of the box is not new, it has already been produced in cardboard.
However, the use of PET GAG 350 means that the confectionery inside is now visible.
The company confirmed in a statement that PET GAG 350 was odourless " so there is no risk of foodstuff contamination ."
Colours and graphics can be printed onto the plastic.
The company says that it has its own print shop and the print used on the boxes has " low migration colourings," so products are safe.
STV also says that it manufactures the boxes with the environment in mind.
Twenty per cent of material wasted during manufacturing is reintroduced into the manufacturing process.
In addition, the box is convenient for confectioners.
Soft creasing, developed by the company's engineering department using high frequency technology, allows the box to be automatically erected and filled, says the company.
Finally, STV says that the design of the boxes ensures a " perfect closing ".
The 'click' gives its name to the box.
The spokesperson confirmed that the cost difference between the cardboard and plastic version of the box is about 10 per cent higher for the plastic.
The spokesperson also confirmed that Haribo Italy is the first company to introduce the new box and discussions are underway with Haribo in different countries.
STV says that nine bright colours and a "cheerful design" have been used on the Haribo Italy packaging which makes it " very attractive ."
According to the company, the box " demonstrates its mastery for innovative packaging while meeting all customer requirements ."
STV is based in Rodgau, near Frankfurt, Germany.
