Beverage multiple packaging kit launched at Drinktec

Among the host of new technology on show at Drinktec, Munich, Germany, is the OneTech2 Combo beverage multiple packaging equipment from US manufacturer MeadWestvaco (MWV).

The packager offers greater flexibility and lower plant footprint than competitor machine, claims the company. “It is highly versatile and optimized to run a wide range of primary containers, as well as various secondary and tertiary packaging configurations,” a spokesperson told FoodProductionDaily.com.

The multipack options which can all be run on this one machine include MWV’s Duodozen, Cluster-Pak, and BasketWrap carriers. These multipacks can then be loaded into tertiary shipping packages.”

Improved line efficiency

Also the OneTech2 Combo system, incorporating the company’s Ultima and MiniTech models, offers improved line efficiency through footprint reduction and high flexibility, she added.

Capable of running up to 600 multipacks per minute, the Ultima is said to be the industry’s fastest multiple packaging machine for can-pack wraps. It enables customers to customize their line to run multiple configurations of cartons, including 2-, 3-, 4- and 6-can packs which are either semi-enclosed or fully enclosed.

The MiniTech solution uses robotic product loading and extends MWV’s portfolio and to offer a fully comprehensive line of beverage packaging systems to

cover clients’ needs, it says.

The OneTech2 Combo system has been designed for use with the company’s full range of cartons including: Basket style, clip style, wrap style, fully enclosed and speciality formats.

Production efficiency

Bill Cecil, vice president Global Beverage Innovation said: “In fast-paced markets, adaptability and flexibility are fundamental for successful brand execution.” He also pledged the company’s continued commitment to: “…deliver turnkey packaging solutions that deliver solid performance in terms of versatility, line speed, and production efficiency.”

No pricing information was available but the company confirmed that the equipment is available worldwide.
