Fire breaks out at Guinness brewery in Dublin

A fire broke out yesterday at the iconic St James’s Gate brewery in Dublin badly damaging a storage building but leaving output unaffected.

Two firefighters were injured trying to put out the blaze that sent smoke billowing over Dublin city centre.

Diageo said the fire broke out during routine repairs to the roofing area of an infrequently used building. At the time the fire started, the building was not being used and so brewing production was unaffected, and no members of staff were injured.
