Brau Beviale and Drinktec organisers agree to future collaboration

The organisers of Brau Beviale and Drinktec have signed a cooperation agreement that will see them both hosting the PETpoint exhibition and the European Beer Star competition.

Messe München and NürnbergMesse made the announcement at the latest edition of Brau Beviale in Nuremberg last week.

PETpoint

Under the agreement, the PETpoint exhibition, which focuses mainly on technologies for the manufacture and recycling of PET drink bottles, will now take place at Brau Beviale from next year.

This means that PETpoint will be held every year. NürnbergMesse will host the event every year at Brau Beviale except in the years when Drinktec is held – which is once every four years. The next PETpoint at Drinktec will therefore be in 2013.

PETpoint is itself a recent addition to the Drinktec line-up as Messe München acquired the rights to the brand from Heidelberg Business Media on 1 October 2009. At the last Drinktec in September 2009, some 120 exhibitors showed their products at PETpoint on a gross area of 11,000 m² - 50 per cent more space than in 2005.

European Beer Star

Under the agreement between Messe München and NürnbergMesse, the European Beer Star, held regularly at Brau Beviale in Nuremberg will now also be held at Drinktec.

Organised by the German brewing associations, Verband Private Brauereien Deutschland and Verband Private Brauereien Bayern is a major international beer competition.

Commenting on the agreement between the trade fair organisers, Bernd Diederichs, managing director of NürnbergMesse, said: “I am sure that the industry and our two exhibitions will benefit from this profitable cooperation.”

Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, the CEO responsible at Messe München, added: “Both exhibitions complement each other ideally: Drinktec every four years as flagship of the beverage and liquid food industry with a global orientation and Brau Beviale as regular get-together for the industry with a focus on Europe. The cooperation enables synergies to be utilised and exploited.”
