The dairy and beverage ingredients supplier has developed a line-up of flavours that includes some familiar cocktail names including Cosmopolitan, Mojito, Sex on the Beach and Piña Colada.
But the new flavours are not all aimed at the cocktail market. Döhler said they may be used in a wide array of products including alcohol free juice drinks and yoghurt drinks.
Cocktail revival
Döhler told BeverageDaily.com: “As cocktails have seen a very successful revival in recent years, their specific flavours are loved and do show the potential to be used in other segments.”
Adult soft drinks offering a more sophisticated alternative to traditional fizzy drinks and juices are an important target. For these products, marketers may well decide not to use the cocktail name when they add a cocktail twist.
For example, a Caipirinha flavoured yoghurt drink may be marketed as lime flavoured but still have the taste of a caipi cocktail.
The new flavours can be brought on their own or with other recipe ingredients such as alcohol and acid stable cream building blocks, alcoholic fermented bases and fruit juice concentrates and purees.
Döhler claims that this flexibility is one of the distinguishing features of its offering.
“We deliver not only the single cocktail flavour for a new product – our costumer gets anything he needs from us – from one source We deliver the ingredients as single building blocks or as a all-in-one-compounds. And we also deliver products ideas and product applications.”
The full list of new Döhler cocktail flavours includes Caipirinha, Cosmopolitan, Mojito, Sea Breeze, Passion Daiquiri, Lemon Margarita, Strawberry Margarita, Piña Colada, Tom Collins Peach & Pineapple and Sex on the Beach to Southern Punch.
