SPX to expand and upgrade Danish processing testing hub

SPX Flow Technology has unveiled plans for an enlarged and upgraded state-of the-art innovation and testing hub for food and beverage processing systems.

The newly upgraded centre, in the Danish city of Soeberg, will provide SPX customers with expanded testing and laboratory facilities, along with engineering expertise and consultation services.

The centre was originally set up by Denmark-based Anhydro, a producer of drying and evaporation processing equipment that was taken over by SPX last year.

The US-based processing giant revealed it will also be installing testing systems from Gerstenberg Schroder, a second Danish process equipment technology outfit it acquired in 2010.

The outcome will be a high-tech engineering centre and customer testing and lab where production trials, ranging from fats and oils to drying and evaporation, can be conducted.

“Customers can try out new processing equipment,” a SPX spokesman told FoodProductionDaily.com. “It is also possible to trial new configurations of existing machinery.”

He added that the facility would enable clients to test their own products on equipment in private suites.

Don Canterna, president of the SPX Flow Technology, said the new centre would leverage the full spectrum of technology brought into the company portfolio by its recent acquisitions.

"As a result, we plan to offer our customers a testing and lab facility with a broad array of wet and dry food and beverage processing testing capabilities, along with an expanded staff of engineers and consultants,” he said. “This expanded facility is part of our strategy to further enhance our competitive presence in Europe, and better position us to serve the critical research and development needs of our food and beverage customers globally."
