Coke donates $1m to Hurricane Sandy relief drive

The Coca-Cola Company has contributed one million dollars to assist in relief efforts associated with the effects of Hurricane Sandy on the Northeast of the United States.

Funds from the Coca-Cola Foundation will be used to provide resources short-term food and shelter and to aid long-term rebuilding efforts.

Muhtar Kent, chairman and CEO, The Coca-Cola Company, said: "Our system has mobilized to help however we can. We're working with local authorities and relief agencies, donating our beverages and funds to help rebuild impacted communities."

As of last Wednesday, Coke said it had delivered bottled water shipments to hard hit areas of New York, New Jersey and elsewhere, and wasworking with local authorities and agencies to assess additional beverage donation needs and other ways to lend assistance.
