Cartons resonate with consumers across the globe. In Brazil, cartons make up a total of 70% of all beverage packaging, with yearly growth of nearly 14% expected through 2015.
Beverage firm Empresa Brasileira de Bebidas e Alimentos (ebba), to capture this surge in demand, is pouring its Maguary and Dafruta brands in SIG Combibloc cartons.
Established names
The two brands are the top-ranked names in Brazil’s juice concentrate market. While Maguary and Dafruta have been around for 60 years and 25 years, respectively, they are still gaining ground in ready-to-drink juices, nectars and juice drinks markets.
Both of the nectar brands are offered in SIG’s combiblocMidi 1,000 ml carton packs with combiSwift screw cap; the ready-to-drink Maguary SuperFrutas high-end juice also are poured into combiblocMidi 1,000-ml cartons.
To attract younger consumers, the company offers kids’ juice beverage in small-format combiblocMini 200 ml cartons, topped with drinking straws.
Flexibility is key
ebba marketing manager Lilian Yokota said packaging flexibility is essential for the company’s goals to provide consumers with a wide range of choices.
“Flexibility enables us to respond quickly and flexibly to market requirements and the demands of our customers,” she said.
The company also plans to expand into markets in other countries. According to Yokota, the variety of options afforded by the SIG Combibloc packaging line will enable ebba to expand its global distribution network.
