The wide mouth jars are manufactured using double-blow technology developed by APPE and Nissei ASB which can be hot-filled or pasteurized at temperatures up to 95°C.
The lightweight product is up to 85% lighter than glass.
“There are considerable benefits for companies switching over to the Thermalite jar as manufacturers do not have to change their filling lines, which avoids additional costs,” said Nick Humphrey, business development manager, APPE.
As well as pickles, the containers can be used for cooking sauces, pesto, tomato-based products, relishes, chutneys, fruit purées, jams and spreads.
