Ahlstrom is to sell its vegetable parchment converting operations in Ohio to a family-owned company.

Ahlstrom and West Carrollton Parchment and Converting will establish a supply agreement for vegetable parchment paper, primarily used in food packaging.

70 employees at the West Carrollton plant will transfer to the Ohio-based firm and the deal is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Ahlstrom will book a non-recurring cost of €1.3m in its fourth-quarter 2013 financial results.

The firm’s Food and Medical business area will continue to operate nine production plants in France, UK, USA, India, China and Finland.
