Protein drink is 'upbeat' after award

Upbeat, a fresh dairy protein drink from The Good Whey Co., has won the Food Chain Marketing Award at the Cream Awards. 

The Cream Awards cover the UK dairy industry from manufacturers, processors, farmers and businesses.

The judges said Upbeat’s launch campaign ‘showed great marketing, generating better than expected volumes and margins.’

Upbeat is a fresh whey protein ready-to-drink product available in the UK. A 250ml bottle sells for £1.79 and has a refrigerated shelf life of 45 days.

It was launched a year ago and currently sells more than 300,000 bottles a month, the company says.  

The Good Whey Co. believes ‘the time is right’ for protein products in the consumer market.

It cites Innova Market Insights figures, which show the biggest increase in protein-enriched product development coming from the dairy sector. In 2013, the number of products launched with a protein claim rose by 13%.
