Anna Annerås, marketing director, Ecolean, told FoodProductionDaily  it is the first time it has worked with the dairy manufacturer and the benefits of its Air Aseptic package is it’s convenience, visibility and it is easy to open.

We have had our eyes set on South America and Colombia for some time. Apart from its large population, the Colombian market is interesting as both producers and consumers are willing to try new things and appreciate to see their brands in a new setting,” she said.

We will not only be focusing on milk in this sector but a range of liquid food products. We have prospects in all kinds of beverages, juices and other dairy categories as well as food service products. There are many opportunities and we feel that SnapQuick and the transparent Air Aseptic Clear, are perfect for the consumers in South America and the US.”

According to market research company, Canadean, the Colombian dairy and beverage industry is one of South America’s most dynamic markets, and it is expected to grow by more than 15% in the next five years.

With nearly 50m consumers, Colombia has the second largest population on the continent and is increasingly open to new products and packaging.

Carlos Enrique Cavelier Lozano, CEO, Alquería, added SnapQuick fits perfectly in its product portfolio and the package has been well received by its consumers because it makes it more practical and fun to drink milk.

Annerås said Ecolean is now in discussions with other producers and brand owners in various markets across South America and the US as it continues to expand its global presence.

It recently spent €50m on expanding its production facilities in TEDA (the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area), near Beijing, plus an aseptic lab and training facilities, as well as an additional factory at its HQ in Helsingborg, Sweden.

China is one of the most important growth markets for Ecolean, and this major investment underlines our long-term dedication to the markets in Asia. I’m very pleased that we will nearly triple our production capacity in China,” added Annerås.
