Smurfit Kappa launches double head filling machine for bag-in-box liquids sensible to oxygen, such as wine

Smurfit Kappa has launched an automatic bag-in-box (BIB) filling machine, as an addition to an existing range, which includes the BIB 700 Evolutive and the BIB 700 SUP machines.

The BIB 700 double head filling machine is designed for large industrial production facilities and features a next generation filling valve, accurate filling to avoid wastage, easy maintenance and improved shelf life.

Florent Neveu, manager, Bag-in-Box filling machines, Smurfit Kappa, told FoodProductionDaily, the two heads of the machine double the speed so manufacturers can fill up to 30 3litre BIBs per minute.

This machine is perfect for filling into bag-in-box liquids sensible to oxygen, such as wine, because it offers the best values of TPO (Total Package Oxygen) after filling on the market thanks to its filling valve,” he said.

Also, it is made in stainless steel and compliant with different food contact regulations. However, we are able to modify it for different products, such as oil and for different taps.”

Neveu added the machine was officially launched at the end of 2014 to satisfy big industrial fillers who are looking for high capacity and high speed.

The BIB 700 range is one of our best-selling pieces of equipment. We have sold over 25 BIB 700 in Europe, Canada, Japan and Australia since its launch three years ago and many others are being ordered now, including Marrenon, a big filler in the south of France,” he said.

The company claims the BIB 700 Double Head filling machine took one year to design it internally and then build it.

According to Neveu, Smurfit Kappa is expanding its range and expertise to propose full filling lines in cooperation with its partners, including filtration systems, box erectors and sealers.
