ACE UK joins OPRL as a co-owner with BRC

The Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment (ACE) UK, which represents Tetra Pak, Elopak, and SIG Combibloc, has announced it will become a joint owner of OPRL, which runs the UK’s on-pack recycling label scheme.

ACE UK will join current owners the British Retail Consortium (BRC), the trade association for the retail sector, creating a 'strong leadership position for the beverage carton industry' to promote greater and more effective recycling.

Jane Bevis, chair, OPRL said the announcement is a significant step in OPRL’s development as it builds closer ties with other industry bodies to increase recycling.

We’re very excited ACE UK is the first of what we hope will be a number of new owners joining current owners the BRC,” she said.

We are grateful to the BRC for all the support it has given us since our launch in 2009 and we are delighted it will continue its interest as joint owners as we move into this next phase of our development.”

ACE UK has worked closely with OPRL for several years, including developing a beverage carton recycling label which reflects the wide availability of local authority collection services for cartons.
