Trans-Market, based in Tampa, Florida, provides process engineering and automation technology for the liquid food industry including citrus, food, dairy and beverages. It also has two facilities in Dallas and San Antonio, Texas.
Beverage production/process technology
The company, which will retain 20% ownership, has revenues of approximately $30m and more than 50 employees.
It will become part of the ‘machines and lines for beverage production/process technology’ segment of Krones remaining at its HQ in Tampa, Florida.
Holger Beckmann, president/CEO, Krones, told BeverageDaily, by acquiring Trans-Market, the company will increase its process technology capabilities in the US and expand its geographical footprint in North America.
“We are excited to add the skilled employees, depth of experience and resources of Trans-Market to the Krones family,” he said.
Process systems, equipment fabrication, installation, distribution
The previous owners of Trans-Market will retain a minority share of the company and continue to be involved in the management and operation of the business.
Founded in 1969, it provides process and mechanical design, implementation of process systems, equipment fabrication, installation, distribution, custom control and automation applications.
Keith Santi, CEO, Trans-Market, said partnering with Krones was ‘a unique opportunity’ to build the business his father founded 47 years ago.
Germany-based Krones focuses on packaging and bottling machine manufacturing. It also manufactures stretch blow-molding machines for producing Polyethylene terephthalate bottles.
In December 2013, it acquired HST Maschinenbau. In January 2014, it founded Evoguard to operate its valve technology segment.
