Wincanton logistics company has signed a three-year contract with Coca-Cola to handle its raw materials and finished products at a warehouse in Lisburn, Northern Ireland.

Wincanton oversees automated and semi-automated warehouse operations, working across supply chains to minimize stockholding and speed up product operations from point of manufacture to point of consumption.

Integrated warehouse management

It has over 200 warehouse sites across the UK and Ireland offering storage, automation, co-packing and integrated warehouse management.

Liam McElroy, MD, retail and consumer, Wincanton, told BeverageDaily, it will receive Coca-Cola supplies which are then sorted and co-ordinated in-house.

Wincanton then ensures the products get to the right production line. The majority is palletized. This is a new contract,” he said.

We look forward to forging a strong and lasting relationship with Coca-Cola.”

Improve operations

Clive Wilson, supply chain services manager, Coca-Cola Hellenic, said it was confident Wincanton’s expertise will help to improve its operations, add value and deliver sustainable benefits to the business.

Selecting the right 3PL (third-party logistics) who shared our values and continuous improvement mindset was critical to our decision-making in selecting Wincanton as our preferred partner,” he added.

Wincanton employs approximately 18,000 people across more than 200 sites and has a 3,400-strong fleet of vehicles. The company started in 1925 delivering milk and dairy products and has since expanded across the supply chain.
