SternMaid supplies retail packs, with or without a zipper, three- or four-edge seal bags, as well as industrial containers such as sacks, fiberboard boxes, drums and FIBCs (flexible intermediate bulk container).
Premixes, trial blends
Mark Riemer, commercial manager, SternMaid, said the Doypack line is in response to customer’s demands for more flexibility for premixes, trial blends or sensitive applications in compounding powders.
“Doypack pouches are becoming increasingly popular because of their practical re-closure mechanism. Our customers appreciate the large opening, the zipper and the secure stand of the pouches on the shelves in spite of the sparing use of packaging material," he said.
"We are constantly expanding our range of retail packs to include new sizes and types of packaging. When planning our filling lines we deliberately decided on a modular system in which each unit can be integrated into any packaging line."
The contract manufacturer offers the entire service chain, from purchase of raw materials, to packaging, warehousing and delivery.
For contract blending, the company has three lines for small and medium-size orders between 100kg and 10,000kg and four lines for large quantities over 10 tonnes.
Allergen-free foods
Allergen-free foods and other sensitive products can be processed on a counter-current container blending line in a separate section of the plant and liquid components can be sprayed onto the powder homogenously on all the lines through special nozzles.
Microcomponents like flavorings, oils and emulsifiers and highly viscous liquids can be dispersed evenly in this way.
SternMaid can also use fluid bed technology to manufacture products that have excellent tabletting properties, depending on the customer’s requirements. For example, powder mixtures can be modified by agglomeration to produce dust-free, optimally portionable products for drink dispensers or capsule machines.
