The three flavors; Nitro Cold Brew Black; Nitro Cold Brew Mocha and Nitro Cold Brew Latte come in 200ml pastel colored cans with eye-catching illustrations.
'Specialty coffee scene'
Founder Stuart Forsyth said the products sit between big brand RTD (ready to drink) long-life iced coffee, and hipster, artisanal, expensive, short-shelf-life cold brew drinks.
“We want to shake up the Ready To Drink (RTD) category, by taking quality, values, ethics, and passion of the ’specialty’ coffee scene and putting all of that into a product that sits on a supermarket shelf,” he said.
The entrepreneur created the company when he returned from California to live in the UK and saw a gap in the market for ready-to-drink cold brew drinks with quality at its core.
The Minor Figures team now includes barista William Rixon and Jonathan Chiu, former managing director of Make Mine a Builders tea supplier.
According to Forsyth, millenials are more educated on origins and coffee terminology than ever before and specialty coffee is on the rise.
Microbrewery
He said the company ethos is to make cold brew more accessible whilst upholding the quality and values of speciality coffee, ethically sourcing the best in-season, single origin Arabica coffee, roast with precision, and grind and brew with cold, filtered water for over 18 hours at its microbrewery in Hackney.
“This slow-and-cold method of brewing yields a less acidic style of coffee and brings out the natural sweetness in the beans,” he added.
“Nitro Cold Brew – Black Coffee is infused with nitrogen for a creamy texture and canned, ready to drink. The Iced Mocha combines nitro coffee with house-made oat m*lk and cocoa into dairy-free ice-cold mocha and Iced Latte blends sweet nitro cold brew with oat m*lk for a light and reviving jolt of energy.”
Minor Figures will be exhibiting at London Coffee Festival 2018 (April 12-15).
