Diageo adds Casamigos tequila and mezcal to Reserve portfolio in Europe
The US tequila brand was co-founded by George Clooney in 2013 and acquired by Diageo in a $1bn deal in August last year. It is currently available in the US, UK, Canada and Australia, and Diageo says it will to continue to grow the brand internationally.
“The brand’s quality and uniqueness has delivered impressive growth, reaching 120k cases in 2016, primarily in the US, and a CAGR of 54% in the last two years,” says Diageo. “The brand sold more than 200k cases worldwide in 2017.
“With the addition of Casamigos, Diageo is further growing the premium tequila category alongside Don Julio Tequila.”
Diageo says it will build the Casamigos brand in key cities and resorts across Europe.
Casamigos co-founder Rande Gerber said: “We’re extremely excited that Casamigos will be joining Diageo Reserve and furthering our expansion and availability throughout Europe.”
