Soprole works with Tetra Pak to launch new probiotic format for children

Chilean dairy brand Soprole has launched a new probiotic product for children, packaged in a 80 ml Tetra Pak container – the first time such packaging has been used in Chile.

The new product, “Uno Colación”, is already available in strawberry and multi-fruit flavors in the main supermarkets of the country.

“Probiotics are a very good alternative to help children strengthen their immune system. ‘Uno Colación’ will allow parents to send this protection now in their lunchbox, in a very practical and easy to take format for them,” said Guillermo Gallardo, product manager, Soprole.

The products are low in sodium, sugar- and fat-free.

Packaging

According to Tetra Pak, this is the first time the Aseptic 80 ml Slim has been used in Chile. The packaging is specially designed for children's consumption, as it is easy to carry and drink.

“This container is already present in other countries of the world, where it stands out as an intelligent, simple and economical solution, since in addition to its advantage over weight, it is 100% recyclable made with cardboard from FSC certified forest sources,” said Pablo DeToro, Marketing Manager of Tetra Pak.

Soprole

The Chilean company was founded in 1949 by a group of milk producers, and operates three production plants located in Santiago, Los Lagos and Osorno.

According to Euromonitor International, Soprole SA, Cooperativa Agrícola y Lechera de la Union Ltda, and Nestlé Chile SA dominate the drinking milk products market in Chile, with a combined retail value share of 66% in 2017.

The yogurt and sour milk products category grew 5% in 2017, with Soprole accounting for 29% of retail value sales.

“With a long presence in the category the company continued to benefit from high brand awareness. Its strong distribution network and long-standing reputation also contributed to the company’s leading position,” stated Euromonitor.
