Headquartered in Illinois in the US, family-owned Sethness manufactures a range of caramel colours in liquid and powdered forms, available as non-GMO, certified organic, gluten-free and allergen-free.
Used only for their colouring – and not flavouring – properties, the main applications for caramel colours are soft drinks, beers, spirits, savoury, pet food and biscuits.
Sethness has four manufacturing facilities in the US, France, India and China.
The two companies already operate two joint ventures in France and China together.
Roquette has not disclosed financial details of the deal, which is expected to close in the third quarter of this year.
Its CEO Jean-Marc Gilson said: “This acquisition will help accelerate Roquette’s growth plan in the food and beverage market, and further drive value for our customers."
Employing 8,400 people worldwide, Roquette has a turnover of around 3.3 billion euros and operates in over 100 countries.
