The facility is located in San Francisco de Macorís, Duarte province, and the new line is part of an expansion plan for its portfolio of products for the Dominican Republic and for export.
The cost of the installation was $10m, and the new equipment consists of a line of fully automatic processes, for the production of ultra pasteurized products, with a capacity of 12,000 containers per hour.
Laurent Freixe, CEO of Nestlé Zona América, said that the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba are experiencing strong growth and the investment will allow the company to capture an even greater share of the markets.
Increased exports to Caribbean
Alexandre Carreteiro, general director of Caribe Latino (Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba, said the new line, “strengthens and expands our product range, bringing innovation to Carnation and launching Nesquik and Impulse in a ready-to-drink format, as well as diversifying and increasing our offer in the national market.”
He said it would, "…allow us to export at the same time to other markets in the Caribbean.”
In 2017, more than 37m liters of milk were purchased by Nestlé Dominicana from farmers in the northeast and northwest regions of the country, and were also supported with technical guidance and financial services as part of the Nestlé Agricultural Service (SAN) program.
