From hibiscus infused CBD waters to botanical alcohol alternatives, we take a look at some of the new products hitting the shelves around the globe this month.

Niche Cocktails

Niche Cocktails – a new canned cocktail brand - is launching in the UK on-trade.

The Suffolk-based firm was set to launch its brand in mid-March but had to transition to an online shop for lockdown. Now, it sees individual cans as the perfect format for the on-trade: limiting contact risks and increasing speed of service.

“What makes canned cocktails even better right now, is that these are easy-serve drinks with the same taste of combining all the original flavourings from multiple bottles, but created in just 30 seconds, straight from the can,” says Emily Mummery, operations director, Niche.

“This limits contact risks, but also increases speed of service – which is vital when venues are being told that they’ll not be able to have people queuing at a bar.”

Niche Cocktails produce three flavors: Orange Old Fashioned, Manuka Honey Whisky Sour, and Matcha Mojito (pictured above).

CBD water from Chilled

Each 250ml can contains sparkling spring water sourced in Austria; 15mg of CBD produced in Switzerland; and an infusion of white hibiscus from Senegal.

The dose of 15mg CBD per can has been chosen as ‘the optimal dose to feel the benefits on anxiety, stress and concentration’.

ZenWTR

ZenWTR – a new beverage brand packaged in bottles made from ocean-rescued plastic – has launched in the US this month.

The mission-led beverage start-up has partnered with Whole Foods Market, where it will be available in 1L, 23.7oz and 16.9oz bottles.

“Vapor distilled and ionized to reach a pH of 9.5, ZenWTR is the perfect choice for crisp, pure water, delivered in an infinitely recyclable package,” says the brand.

“Founder Lance Collins is on a mission to help reduce the amount of plastic polluting the world’s marine environments and has created the US’ first bottled water made from certified, ocean-rescued plastic (from the bottle to the cap to the label), while delivering crisp, clean vapor-distilled, high alkaline hydration.

“With over three years of development spent securing a supply chain able to produce packaging made from certified ocean-rescued plastic, ZenWTR is a pioneer in the industry, addressing demands for sustainable products that don’t sacrifice premium quality. Using up to five ocean-rescued plastic bottles to produce every 1L bottle of ZenWTR, the company will rescue up to 70 million plastic water bottles from the ocean in 2020 in addition to donating 1% of revenue to cleaning up marine environments.”

The 750-mL shareable celebration bottles act as zero-proof substitutes for rosé or sugary mixed drinks, providing refreshing summertime sips without the alcohol.

“Summer is a time for celebration with friends and family, whether that’s at home creating memories or outside soaking up the sun,” said Sharelle Klaus, who founded DRY Soda Company in 2005. “We’re excited to debut our limited-edition line of summery, zero-alcohol craft beverages that everyone can enjoy, with festive packaging inspired by the season.”

The bottles feature whimsical watercolor designs painted by artist Catalina Estrada that pop with bright colors and honor the real ingredients used in the beverages: sliced watermelons and pineapples.

As with DRY’s other beverages, both Summer Celebration bottle flavors are Non-GMO Project Verified, caffeine-free, gluten-free, OU Kosher and sodium-free, with only 45-70 calories per 12-ounce serving and about half the sugar and calories of sodas and juices.
