Absolut has launched its paper bottle prototype in the UK and Sweden this week: testing the design as part of its journey to create a fully bio-based bottle for spirits.

The Pernod Ricard brand is currently using 57% paper and 43% recycled plastic in its bottle: with the ultimate goal to reach a 100% bio-based bottle.

In the UK, Absolut will partner with 'design-led and sustainability' influencers to drive awareness of the prototypes on social media and offer consumers the chance to win a uniquely numbered paper bottle.

The influencers are also being challenged to customise a bottle with their own design and create a unique limited-edition item for their followers to win.

The paper bottle project is a collaborative initiative with the Paboco pioneer community which includes companies such as Coca-Cola and Carlsberg.
