The Prisoner's Corrections wine series

From energy drinks to whisky-infused beer, we take a look at some of the new products launching around the globe.

The Prisoner

US wine brand The Prisoner has announced the launch of Corrections, a limited edition wine collection ‘dedicated to driving awareness of the unjustifiable harm wrought by America’s broken prison system’.

The Corrections wine series (pictured above) features three new California-sourced varietals: a Viognier, Malbec, and a Tempranillo.

The collection features collage-style original labels from artist Chris Burnett. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Corrections will be donated to Rubicon Programs, a nonprofit based in the San Francisco Bay area striving to provide wellness and economic mobility for communities that are disproportionately impacted by systems of inequity.

The Prisoner commissioned Los Angeles-based artist and designer Chris Burnett to create three original multimedia collages, entitled Finding Flowers, New Hope and The Other Side,” explains the brand.

“Chris’s illustrations have a hopeful tone, asking viewers to look past the stereotypes that often define prisoners and honor the resilience of incarcerated Americans. Each bottle comes wrapped in a bottle bag featuring statistics that underscore the sobering realities of our current criminal justice system, transforming this collection of wine into a tool to drive conversation and inspire action.”

To celebrate its 175th anniversary, Calsberg has launched a series of experimental brews, all developed in the Carlsberg Research Laboratory.

  • Carlsberg Brut Beer is brewed with wheat malt and Montrachet yeast from Carlsbergs’ own collection which gives the beer an elegant, sparkly, dry and smooth touch. Yuzu, grapefruit and rose water gives a great balance and a uniquely crisp and refreshing finish. A different beer for special occasions.
  • Carlsberg Wheat Lager uses 100% wheat malt and 0% barley malt: creating a smooth and wine-ish beer brewed with all wheat malt and dry-hopped with Nelson Sauvin hops.
  • Carlsberg Barrel Aged Lager: Lagered in barrels from Danish Whiskey brand Stauning for 175 days to give it a refined, rich and peaty taste. It has a complex character and is golden in color.

The three brews are limited-edition and available in select markets.
