Knudsen carries the can for Carlsberg recall
group in December after a disastrous summer season which saw the
company recall millions of cans of sour-tasting beer from the
domestic market.
A recall of more than 3 million cans of beer in Denmark has left the country's leading brewer Carlsberg with a red face and a new supply chain director.
Jette Knudsen, who is in charge of the company's logistical department, is to leave Carlsberg on 1 December after falling on her sword and taking responsibility for the recall.
"As there shouldn't be the slightest doubt about the quality of Carlsberg and Tuborg products, Jette Knudsen has decided to take the consequences and leave Carlsberg Denmark," the company said in a statement.
Taking her place is Soren Lisbjerg, currently vice-president of Carlsberg's supply chain operations, who will also join the board of Carlsberg Danmark. Lisbjerg is a chemical engineer and brew master and has worked for Carlsberg since 1991 in roles at Tuborg-Fredericia Brewery, as head of quality for Carlsberg Denmark and as technical director for Coca-Cola Nordic Beverages. He later became technical director for Carlsberg Breweries' Northern and Western European division.
Kasper Madsen, the current production director for Carlsberg-Tetley in the UK, will take-over Lisbjerg's job as vice-president for supply chain at Carlsberg Breweries, joining the domestic business after stints in Malaysia and Thailand as well as the UK.
Replacing Madsen at Carlsberg-Tetley is Gert Brandt Petersen, currently technical director for the Danish group's Unicer subsidiary in Portugal. He will take up the position of production director at the UK arm, and will also join the Carlsberg-Tetley executive committee. Petersen is a brew master and has worked as technical director for Carlsberg Italia and brew master in Denmark, working in Portugal since 1997.
Carlsberg Danmark's production director Carsten Ibsen has in turn been appointed as technical director and board member for Unicer in Portugal. Ibsen has worked for Carlsberg for 12 years and has a broad technical experience from both Denmark and Vietnam. He is also a brew master.
Finally, Torben Larsen has been appointed director with responsibility for finance and IT for Carlsberg Denmark. He is currently finance director for Carlsberg Sweden and was previously finance director for Coca-Cola Bottlers in Denmark.
