Australian cold brew coffee spreads in the US
Bluestone - ‘an Australian-influenced hospitality and lifestyle brand' - now operates 45 cafe locations since launching in New York in 2013. The company is now expanding into retail with its RTD launch across the US.
The Australian Iced Coffee and Cold Brew ‘with a Dash’ are carton versions of the iced beverages already served at Bluestone locations in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Philadelphia, New Jersey and Toronto.
The iced coffee and cold brew are formulated ‘with a dash’ of milk, available with organic cow’s milk and an oat-based alternative. The oat ‘milk’ is provided by plant-based beverage brand Elmhurst 1925.
Bluestone said its proprietary roasting process enhances the natural sweetness of the coffee beans, eliminating the need for added sugars. The drinks are packaged in SIG combismile, which is a resealable and recyclable carton.
Nicholas Stone, founder and CEO of Bluestone Lane, said "Launching a ready-to-drink line is an important step on our journey of bringing the world-renowned coffee culture found in Australia to the United States. This launch upholds our commitment to innovation, health, and sustainability. We believe our locals deserve coffee that tastes incredible - anywhere, anytime."
Inspired by Australia, Bluestone says its coffee shops embrace its ‘Aussie’ approach to life and the Melbourne coffee culture.
“We often refer to coffee culture being about an experience, an escape where you can disconnect and enjoy thoughtfully made premium beverages and food. However, a Melbourne coffee experience is actually made up of rich layers and sophistication,” Bluestone said.
“From innovative coffee beverages, the exotic flavors of complementary foods, through to the power of the communal table, the Melbourne scene is so much more than just premium Flat Whites. It’s a way of life and true piece of pride for Melbournians and Australians.”
The RTD line will begin rolling out this month in Bluestone locations, online through FreshDirect and Amazon, and at select retail partners.
