RPC Bebo is to expand its packaging operations in Poland through
the acquisition of rival firm 4 You Sigal, as the company looks to
move into the confectionery packaging market.

Along with consolidating its presence in the country, the purchase will give RPC an instant foothold in confectionery packaging, as well as increasing its capabilities for producing modified atmosphere packaging (MAP).

RPC hope that the acquisition of 4 You Sigal, who supply packaging to established confectionery brands like Mieszko chocolates, will open up new markets for the company whilst consolidating its existing operations.

RPC Bebo portfolio's of products already include Multilayer and monolayer pots, as well as disposable and reusable trays and tubs.

The company is a subsidiary of European holding group RPC, which already operates 38 plants across Europe, four of which are situated in Poland.

"This is an important acquisition for RPC Bebo Polska and underlines the importance the Group attaches to continuing to expand our presence in Poland," commented Krzysztof Banach, General Manager of RPC Bebo Polska.

MAP is an increasingly lucrative technology for packaging companies providing fresher food, particularly in the fields of less labour intensive foods such as pre-washed salads and vegetables.
